You might have a few questions about Peninsula Podiatry and what you can expect at your appointment. Please take a few moments to read the following information for the answers to your questions.

FAQ's

  • What a Podiatrist Does

A podiatrist is trained to diagnose foot and lower limb conditions and create treatment plans that heal or manage those conditions. Podiatrists must undertake specific training in order to treat patients.

This training gives podiatrists a thorough knowledge of gait analysis, lower body anatomy, biomechanics and orthoses manufacturing and invention

  • What Patients Should Bring to Appointments

If you have any documents that would be relevant to what you will be discussing with the podiatrist, please remember to bring them. This could include X-rays, other scans or any referral letters from your general practitioner.

  • How Patients Should Prepare for Appointments

Your podiatrist should be able to easily examine your legs and feet so be sure to dress accordingly. It’s best to remove nail polish if your nails need to be examined. It’s also a good idea to bring your shoes along so your podiatrist can advise you on new footwear that is more suited to your needs.

  • What Typically Happens at a Podiatry Appointment

Upon arrival at your first visit you will need to fill out forms that are provided by the staff. These forms give the podiatrists necessary information that will be helpful in diagnosing and treating your condition.

Once you meet your podiatrist the two of you will discuss the reason for your visit. The podiatrist may ask more questions in order to reach an accurate diagnosis. Once diagnosed your podiatrist will explain the treatment options.
